Statement of Faith

At Guided Steps, we are committed to the tenets contained in this Statement of Faith
The Bible
All 66 books of the Bible are breathed by God into existence, through human authors. These books are without errors and are final. The Bible is fully sufficient and authoritative for instructing people in all truth. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16).
God
There is one God who is infinitely perfect and eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. “As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. (NIV, Matthew 3:16-17)”
Jesus
Jesus, the eternal Son of God, was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born to Virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life and died on the cross for mankind's redemption from sin. He rose from the dead, proving His power over sin and death, ascended to heaven, and is now exalted at God's right hand. Jesus will return in glory to judge the world and fulfill His redemptive mission.
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is a divine person sent to dwell with, guide, and teach believers. He enables believers to live righteous and godly lives and He convinces the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. The gifts and fruit of the Spirit are part of God’s plan for His Church. It is God’s will that each believer be filled with the Holy Spirit. We believe that the Holy Spirit thus indwells all who receive Jesus Christ as both Savior and Lord.
People
We were all created in the image of God, but as the result of sin is lost and powerless to save himself. All of us are born with a sinful nature, are separated from God, and we can be saved only through the atoning work of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Salvation
Salvation is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer. When we turn from our sins and turn to Jesus in faith we are saved.
Church
The Church is the body of Christ and is composed of those who, through belief in Christ, have been spiritually regenerated by the indwelling Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is the head of the body. The local church is a part of the greater body, regularly assembled together to worship, pray, encourage, teach, proclaim the gospel and to observe the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
